
Hydrant Hysteria Competition
The New England Section AWWA is pleased to announce that we will be working with the Connecticut Section AWWA to host the 2025 Section Hydrant Hysteria Competition. The competition will be at the MDC OPERATIONS FACILITY & TRAINING CENTER, 125 Maxim Road, Hartford, CT 06114.
Each Hydrant Hysteria Competition team shall consist of no more than 2 competitors and a coach. The two competitors may consist of two males or two females. The coach may be either male or female.
The Hydrant manufacturer is M&H Valve Company.

What is Hydrant Hysteria?
Hydrant Hysteria is a fast-paced competition where two-member teams assemble a specific water hydrant as quickly as possible.
- The Competition is a measure of the team’s skill at assembling a hydrant quickly, totally and accurately. All parts will be assembled in the proper manner and their assembled hydrant shall be tested by the judges for its ability to operate correctly.
- Each team will be required to completely assemble a hydrant commonly utilized by a utility. The event is timed with multiple teams assembling a hydrant at the same time.
